GTI Announces New Senior Instructor

Doyle Burdette
GTI is proud to welcome Doyle Burdette as a Senior Instructor. Doyle comes to GTI with 18 years of Law Enforcement experience in South Carolina with 11 of those years as a member of the Greenville Police SWAT Team. Doyle also served two years in the Army and 6 years in the Army Reserve. Doyle will make his home in Barnwell, South Carolina with his wife Lisa and their 3 children McConnell, Catie Beth and Jessica.

Students Attending GTI's DHS-Basic SWAT Course

In June, operator's from Beaufort County Sheriff's Office and the United States Army, attended GTI's 7-day DHS-Basic SWAT class at GTI's Joint Operations Center (JOC) in Barnwell, South Carolina. The Basic SWAT course gave students instruction and practical application in the following tactical training:
  • Proven dynamic entry and slow and deliberate tactics during practical exercises and force on force scenarios.
  • High Risk Warrant Services, Vehicle Assaults, Citizen Team Member Recovery, and Ballistic/Mechanical Breaching.
  • Practical applications in tactical shooting techniques associated with close quarter's battle engagements.
  • Detailed block of instruction on Terrorism, as well as tactical considerations when dealing with a terrorist threat such as improvised explosive devices, and weapons of mass destruction.
  • Students received daily physical training to increase their physical performance in SWAT related mission environments.

The JOC is a former nuclear fuels reprocessing plant that has been converted into an all hazards training site. With much of the structures remaining complete, including control room, tanks, miles of pipes, etc., the JOC can offer a real world training experience.
