Course Description
This course complies and supports the National NIMS, addressing several factors of the Command Management, Preparedness, Resource Management and Supporting Technologies components to the NIMS system. This course thoroughly covers: • Tactical Mindset • Equipment Selection (Specific to Type I Teams) • Firearms Selection • Body Armor and NIJ Rating System • Scouting / Intelligence and Pre-Planning (Familiarization) • Shooting Platforms and the Sympathetic Nervous System Response to Threats • Cover and Concealment in Urban Environments • Approaches and Movements Outside of the Target Structure • Mechanical and Ballistic Breaching • Occupancy Control • Dynamic Entries • Noise / Flash Diversionary Devices (Familiarization) • Tactical Angles • Slow and Deliberate Entries • Hostage Rescue Techniques • Direct-To- Threat Clearing • CBRN and Federal Laws pertaining to WMD • Improvised Explosive

Devices • Citizen and Team Member Recovery • Passenger Vehicle Assaults • Linear Assaults • Chemical Agents and Delivery Systems (Familiarization) • Less Lethal Munitions and Delivery Systems (Familiarization) • PPE Selection and Operations Considerations (Familiarization) • Rappelling Operations • Fast Roping Operations At the conclusion of this course, students will have the skills, abilities and knowledge to effectively serve as a team member performing tactical missions that would be commonly conducted by a Type I Swat team. (All of the skills taught in this course are extremely perishable and will require the participants to continue with on-going training). Advanced SWAT Operations courses I-III are all Federal SWAT courses designed to work hand-in-hand with the Department of Homeland Security Typing System. All three courses concentrate efforts on conducting advanced tactical operations while in a protective posture of PPE.

Advanced SWAT Operations I Course is designed for specialized Federal teams that have both rappelling and fast roping requirements as well as explosive breaching capabilities. This course places a high emphasis on intelligence gathering through the use of robots, UAVs, Ultra Wide Band (UWB) Radar devices and other extremely advanced methods of surveillance and close threat reconnaissance.

Upon completion of this course, operators will be able to effectively perform inside a CBRNE hot zone absent vapors performing extremely difficult and challenging tasks. Advanced SWAT Operations I covers all of the materials and techniques taught in levels II and III and adds additional capabilities.

Students will don and doff PPE several times each day and will be tested daily in both written and practical exercise formats.

This curriculum is extremely fast paced and demanding both physically and mentally. Students must successfully complete all modules of the course to receive a certificate of training. Throughout the course, they will be required to wear their PPE Suits several times while training. It is important to know that students will not be able to don their PPE Suits if any of the following conditions exist:

1. Blood Pressure >150/90
2. Resting heart rate >60% if Max HR
3. Respiratory rate of >25 BPM
4. Core Temperature of >99.8F
5. Existence of major rashes or open wounds
6. If the operator is physically ill
7. If the operator has consumed any alcohol within 6 hours or heavy alcohol within 72 hours
8. If the operator consumed any medications that would impair their ability within 24 hours
9. Pregnant operators
Additionally, after doffing PPE, the operator must be able to recover quickly. Post deployment vital criteria are closely evaluated. Operators doffing PPE will not be able to re-don PPE within 24 hours if any of the following conditions exist:

1. Blood pressure >160/100
2. 1st minute HR >85% of Max
3. 3rd minute HR < 10 BPM from 1st minute
4. Respiratory rate .30 BPM
5. Temperature >100.4F
6. Weight >3% of total
This course mirrors the US Department of Homeland Security Office of Grants and Training Pre-Approved Course for State and Local SWAT Teams (DHS catalogue number ID-003-RESP RESPOND).
Course length 20 days.
Commercial Price per Student = $5,200

Considerations (Familiarization) • Rappelling Operations • At the conclusion of this course, students will have the skills, abilities and knowledge to effectively serve as a team member performing tactical missions that would be commonly conducted by a Type II Swat team. (All of the skills taught in this course are extremely perishable and will require the participants to continue with on-going training).

Like Advanced SWAT Operations I, the Operations II Course focuses attention on teams that are capable (or need to be capable) of making entries form upper stories. However, unlike the level I course, this class does not offer fast roping techniques and focuses the top to bottom assaults off of rappelling tactics.

While Advanced SWAT Operations II covers all of the scouting curriculum covered in the level III, it does not delve into close threat reconnaissance like the level I curriculum. Advanced SWAT Operations II places additional emphasis on Hostage Rescue Techniques than does the level III course.

Upon completion of this course, operators will be able to effectively perform inside a CBRNE hot zone absent vapors performing extremely difficult and challenging tasks. Advanced SWAT Operations II covers all of the materials and techniques presented in level III and adds additional capabilities.

(All of the skills taught in this course are extremely perishable and will require the participants to continue with on-going training).

Advanced SWAT Operations III Course could be compared to extremely advanced and demanding Advanced SWAT courses offered elsewhere but spends a great deal more time addressing SWAT operations inside CBRNE hot zones and conducting advanced tactical operations such as hostage rescue techniques while wearing personal protective equipment (PPE).

This course, as well as levels II and I, prepares the tactical officer to deal with the threat of terrorism and spends a great deal of time examining the mental shift required when encountering the traditional criminal element opposed to the terrorist cell. Advanced SWAT Operations III differs from levels I and II by not presenting material on conducting top to bottom assaults and places emphasis on primary breaching locations on the ground floor.

Students will don and doff PPE several times each day and will be tested daily in both written and practical exercise formats.
