BASIC SWAT COURSE
GTI’s Basic SWAT School is an entry level tactical class to provide the student with a firm understanding of basic SWAT concepts and operations. GTI Basic SWAT gives the student an opportunity to master basic SWAT Theory and build to a level of proficiency of basic tactical operations.
Basic SWAT is built on case law of most Circuit Court decisions which guide local, state, and federal offices in their SWAT tactics. The course builds the individual first, complimenting the body’s natural reaction to stress and the sympathetic nervous system for a seamless transition to real world application. By Day 2, the officers will become members of a team, receiving in-depth theory on team dynamics, and SWAT concepts designed from Circuit Court Decisions. Day 3 is a live fire drill card, developing the individual's skills for the stick.
Day 4 includes honing the Team Movement skills, in and out of structures, vehicle assaults, stairways, shield work, team member recovery, breaching, etc. Students will understand the planning and preparation process required for SWAT application and should be able to serve as a functional member of any SWAT team. By this time the teams will be introduced to the LIVE FIRE shoot houses to be fluent in stick operations under a heightened sympathetic nervous system. Day 5 includes more tactics, to culminate in a Full scale exercise where planning, scouting, Intel, breaching, and team movements are put together in a successful operation.
Officers will be required to bring all kit gear, bullet proof vest, their duty rifle, drop holster, sidearm, and eye and ear protection. They should come prepared to be in practical exercises for each day, BDU's, a good pair of boots, hat, and excellent gloves are required and mandatory. Each officer should also have hydration systems (or a sizeable water bottle), sunscreen, and other clothing dependent on current weather patterns. All gear, if required, can be secured in the walk-in safe/armory during their stay.
Each student will be required to have 700 rounds of rifle and 150 rounds of sidearm ammunitions. Students should either have their ammo shipped ahead of time, purchase rounds from GTI, or come prepared. All converted weapons and ammunitions for F/F and Live Fire Shoot Houses (approximately 250 rounds) are provided for the students. Students can use their duty rifle and duty sidearm during the F/F drills and Live Fire Shoot houses if they so choose. Conversion kits will be provided. Students can also rent firearms (M4 / SIG / GLOCK / BERETTA) from GTI for $25/day per weapon. Flashbangs, door breaching tools, breaching doors, and other equipment will be provided for the students.
The GTI Basic SWAT course is time intensive and students should count on full 12 hour days. Class will conclude no earlier than 1700 hours on the last day of the course. Please do not make flight arrangements prior to 1900 hours from the Boise Airport. This course is designed to be immersive, exciting, and capable of fulfilling your state requirements for a Basic SWAT Course.
