Browne-Sanchez was off-duty at the time of the shooting. Browne-Sanchez was shot as he tried to disarm a man who entered the bar and demanded money at gunpoint. He is the first state deputy sheriff to be shot and killed in Hawaii.
Deputy Browne-Sanchez had served with the Hawaii Department of Public Safety - Sheriff's Division, for 5 years. He is survived by his mother.
